At a time when violence and intergroup tensions have increased in both our city and our nation. It us important that the school community address such issues in a manner that enables students of different cultural backgrounds to build bridges. At Canarsie High School, a multicultural project on the Holocaust developed by the Jewish Heritage –Akiva Club in cooperation with the African American Club, AP History Class, ADL Leadership Class provides an opportunity for the school , as a community to appreciate diversity.
The goal of the Holocaust Memorial Project is to engender in all students a cross-cultural respect, sensitivity, understanding and empathy for victims of past and present bigotry through student led workshops on human rights violations and racism.
I am presently working on a Holocaust Educational Project with AMUD AISH Memorial Museum.
